Fleet Street Office Building
Project description
The structural inspection at 65 Fleet Street, London involved a comprehensive assessment of a former office building undergoing redevelopment into student accommodation with approximately 856 rooms. The Interspan AQUILA team completed a full suite of non-destructive testing, including visual assessment, reinforcement mapping, concrete quality evaluation and corrosion risk analysis. Using advanced sensors and a digital twin workflow, the inspection provided a detailed understanding of the building’s current condition and identified localised areas requiring further attention. The work ensured that the developer received an accurate, data driven overview of structural performance and material integrity for informed decision making.
AQUILA’s contribution
AQUILA delivered an integrated inspection, combining the expertise of UK and Swiss teams with industry leading technologies. The team utilised Schmidt hammer testing, ultrasonic pulse echo, multichannel GPR, electrical resistivity and digital twin modelling to generate a precise condition profile of concrete quality, reinforcement characteristics and corrosion probability.
Engineers using Augmented Reality to mark embedded objects and defects in order to identify standard-compliant test zones for condition assessment.
AQUILA’s structured workflow improved efficiency across data collection, interpretation and reporting. The final deliverables included a customer presentation, a detailed technical report and secure access to a digital twin portal. This enabled the client to understand key structural risks, plan targeted interventions and optimise the redevelopment programme.
